Habit: Broadly conical tree with spreading horizontal branches, scaly purple-brown bark and shoots that remain green for seven years

Leaf Descrption: Linear matt or glossy dark green leaves2-3cm long. They are paler underneath and are two ranked and parted either side of the shoot

Flowering: Yellow male cones are born in spring. The fruit consists of single green seeds with juicysweet usually red arils 1cm across
